  • Seth Kaye is a multiple award winning documentary photographer whom the Valley Advocate has called “one of the best wedding photojournalists in New England”. His years of experience as a photojournalist, combined with an academic background in the fine arts, make him uniquely qualified to document weddings in an unobtrusive, respectful fashion.

Seth’s narrative photographic style reflects a philosophy in which the photographer observes rather than directs, where real moments are free from manipulation and interference. His work belongs to a tradition of photography which relies on seeing and understanding the significance of the moment, and capturing it.

Stuck in the Mud

Laura and Tom needed some photos in advance of their Jack & Jill, and while the weather didn’t hold out long enough for us to do their full-on engagement session that day, we decided to have some fun with a mini pre-engagement session.

Because they’re having a country & western theme they suggested doing the photos at an old barn in Enfield, and since I arrived a little early I thought I’d check out the location to make the shoot go a little more efficiently.

Now, I love my little car, but because it’s low to the ground I often don’t see certain road conditions until I’m on top of them. It had been raining much of the week, so in this case that translated to muddy off-road conditions between the main road and the barn.

Once I got halfway down the road (read: path) I realized the ground was no longer solid and was instead mostly mud, and my little car was up to the rims in it. Thankfully Tom had a pickup and tow chain and, once we’d finished with the shoot, towed me back to solid ground. Thanks Tom!

Of course I took some photos…
